This book comes from an author who I very much recommend. The book is more suited to be a quick reference guide to cults more than world religions. Information regarding cults, such as Mormons and JW's, range from their history to their beliefs. Included in the back of the book is a list of 118 cult beliefs and practices that are refuted using scripture. Though the book does not deal with world religions it is a handy reference guide to cults and religious sects.

I run a website and also do a bit of evangelism/apologetics. One of my tasks is to dialogue and or send letters to the cults,and false churches in my area (Denver, CO) of which I have no small task. This book is perhaps the best for giving a overall synopsis of the major cults. While this book does not address Progressive Liberal "Christians" (Gay/Homosexual), the emerging church, the word of faith movement, and such I have other books that touch those groups. So for the task this book has set out to accomplish I absolutely love it and find it superior to my other books on the topic (So Whats the difference?, Josh McDowell book on the cults). The apologetic power points are especially helpful to defend Biblical Christianity. My major gripe of the book (despite all its praises) is a lack of a topical index in the back. Surely this would have been quite helpful. I recommend this book to not only the bible college student, but to those wanting some good information on the cults, but also those doing the same thing I am doing, and that is challenging the cults in their area and proclaiming Christ to them.

I chose this rating because it gives a complete overview of different beliefs in an easy to understand format. I did not find one false statements. To me that is vital. We should seek the truth and the truth will set us free

The resulting burn area was the size of 15 Manhattans. Entire neighborhoods burned to the ground overnight. Warnings were mishandled so many survivors had virtually no time to take any belongings. Others didn’t escape in time.The author, a graphic memoirist, uses his craft to document, in real time, the horrific experience of losing your home and all your stuff in a split second. While he is grateful his family is safe, he states, “Well-meaning people say, ‘It’s just stuff.’ But it’s our stuff. Stuff we created. Stuff we treasured. Stuff from our ancestors we wanted our descendants to have. Stuff is a marker of time and memory. It’s roots.”Wow, A Fire Story is so real! In the week or two following the fire, I ran across a couple of brief "comic strips" (for lack of a better term) on Facebook recounting his experience that night. A couple of frames still linger in my brain. The image of him standing with empty shopping cart in Home Depot (I think) and needing everything... and nothing. At least nothing a homeowner would need. The other image was of him looking down at the keys in his pocket, many of which no longer had a purpose.... like his front door key. Just ordered the book. Can't wait to read it.

Overall this book seems very comprehensive. It looks like it will be a great book to learn from. My problem is that I am doing this as a self-study course. (I already have several years billing experience, but need to learn so much more.) Not until I actually got the book and unwrapped it did I read that answers to Coding Exercised, Claims Completion Exercises, and Chapter Reviews are only available from your instructor. Also the workbook that goes with this edition has no answers either. It would have been better if the book description mentioned this information up front BEFORE I decided to purchase it. I have been in contact with publisher and a sales rep. to see what they could do to help. Publisher rep. was nice but couldn't help me. Still waiting for local sales rep. to answer my inquiry. I have debated as to whether to return these and get something different. Still unsure, but I do feel this is the most up-to-date book on the subject, so I may just try to muddle through and see what I can do. If you are in a real classroom with an instructor or taking the class through AAPC, then I think this will be a great book/workbook. If you are doing this on your own, you are, so it seems, kinda out of luck.

This book does not have all of the information or subjects needed to pass the CPB exam from the AAPC. It only has a fraction of the topics that are to be covered on the exam.

I purchased this set and was disappointed. I read Ellie's story only to learn it was exactly the same from the original set of books. The way it was being advertised it seemed that it was going to be a continuation of the previous story only to learn it wasn't.

My daughter is ecstatic. She loved Bailey's story so I bought her the whole set. Beautiful quality, housed in a sturdy outer box.

Can't wait for my daughter to read these. This was a Christmas gift for her.

I love the Moosewood Cookbook. My copy of the 1977 edition is tattered, taped up and multi-stained.When the 15th anniversary edition came out, I bought it so I could have a nice, not-falling-apart copy. Even though the cover stated "New Revised Edition". Unfortunately, the recipes had been edited, mostly to remove fat. Some recipes were gone altogether (e.g. Pakora and Tempura Vegetables). Others had eggs and cheese completely or partially replaced by other extra flavors; "Cheese Beans" became "Tart and Tangy Baked Beans", with cheese optional, an extra apple, plus molasses and cider vinegar. I tried both and liked the first much, much better, as with other recipe edits.I bought this 40th anniversary edition for the same reason I bought the 15th. Unfortunately, there was no warning on the cover that I was getting the revised recipes. This isn't the 40th anniversary edition of the original Moosewood Cookbook, it's the 25th anniversary edition of the 15th anniversary edition.I wish I could get a new copy of the original book.

If your old Moosewood Cookbook is tattered and falling apart, as the author discusses at the start of this updated version, hold onto all your favorite recipes from the old version. I was amazed to discover how many of my favorites had been altered like Gado Gado and Indonesian Rice Salad. I'm not saying that the new version might not be good but as an old hippie from the 1970's, I loved so many of these dishes as originally written. So now I have gone through my old cookbook and torn out the pages from my stained, tattered, taped together version and stuck my favorites in with the page with the updated version. Perhaps I will blend the two version. Perhaps I will just use the old one. But be aware that there are many serious changes to the recipes for your old favorites!!

Yes, there are newer and more gourmet vegetarian cookbooks out there. After trying recipes from several of those and having many disappointed reactions from my vegetarian daughter and the rest of the family, I decided to go back to this classic. Yes the recipes are often higher in fat and have some seemingly odd and definitely not gourmet flavor profiles. But you know what? My daughter and I made three recipes from here so far and they were all winners. The Zuccanoes (stuffed with brown rice, cheese, hot sauce, worcestershire, sauteed veggies and pumpkin seeds), the layered Eggplant Parmesan (deliciously browned) and the extra-nutty Pesto were all delicious. We'll be going back to those and trying more. I'd rather have a recipe that tastes delicious and needs tweaking for nutrition, than one that is healthy and lacks flavor. These are family style recipes, rather than restaurant style recipes, and like family recipes you can easily adjust them to ingredients you have on hand or your own tastes. But the combinations and ideas are a good place to get started, especially for those, like me, who didn't grow up with vegetarian cooking. The cooking temps and times have been spot on to get the items to the proper doneness and consistency, and all have protein in the form of nuts, cheese, and or legumes.

I am an omnivore and I love this cook book. The presentation is lovely and the recipes are delicious.The recipes well written and easy to follow. This cook book has been in print with revised additions for the past 30 years and I recommend it to anyone who would is interested in having fun making tasty vegetable dishes. The photo of the prepared dishes are beautiful.

This was a gift for a friend. I love my Moosewood Cookbook that I have owned for many years. This one came with more recipes that mine. I hope my friend gets as much use out of hers as I do mine.

Another classic cookbook. I wore out the original paperback book, and am delighted to own a hardback copy now. Many favorite recipes here, especially the soups. I don't notice too many changes in the anniversary edition from the original. Some of the recipes are more complicated than I want to use for everyday cooking, but fabulous for special dinners.

I have the original from 40 years ago and thought the anniversary edition would make a delightful gift for my adult, kitchen-oriented grandson. It lived up to all expectations...mine in the giving and his in the receiving.

I still use this old cookbook-- actually ordered another copy because my old one was so dirty and worn from 30 years of use. Some of my top favorites are the spinach lasagna, hummus, Brazilian black bean soup, and the banana bread. The most annoying feature of the book is the poor index.
