About the Author
Andrew Parr is an Industrial Control Engineer, recently retired from ASW Sheerness Steel, Sheerness, UK who worked in the steel industry for over thirty years. In 1980 he began specializing in sequence and closed loop control systems using Programmable Controllers (PLCs) with hydraulic and pneumatic actuators. He has written fifteen books on electronics and process control including Logic Designers Handbook, Industrial Control Handbook, Programmable Controllers, Control Engineering, along with many amateur- level books, among them Introduction to Operational Amplifiers. His books have been widely translated into many languages, including Japanese, Polish, and Swedish. He and has presented papers at various international conferences, including ones on “Automation Systems in the Steel Industry” and on “Automated Fault Diagnostics”.

Am just trying to get an understanding of Hydraulics. Am not interested in writers who are so self-absorbed they neglect the efficacy of employing Semantics in their written communications on a subject, I like to assume, they know what they're talking about. Will look to see if 'Dummies' offers something. Looking for a book to learn from; not something for an engineering graduate to play with.
If you have a little knowledge on hydraulics, this particular book on the subject will leave you with enough information and knowledge to have a sensible high level conversation with some of the top engineers in the business. "Buy it, you won't regret it". Eddy Sayer.
Once again this is a book that lacks the info everyone is looking for. It has just enough info to get you thinking about hydraulics and then leaves you hanging. I would say its written by someone who hasnt played around with hyrdraulics except maybe on paper. Lets see some real life examples and an indepth explanation, and some things that will happen if you dont follow safty guidlines. All in all I would have to put stuff together and experiment myself to find out it anything would work or not. I have not found anything online either that helped with hydraulics. surplussuperstore has a pretty good source for hydraulics but doesnt really explain anything either. There has to be a good book or someone out there that shows examples of hydraulics being used.
Good starter book for basic understanding without getting bogged down with an excess of technical concepts and formulas. I would recommend.
I hoped to find this a good resource for designing and installing hydraulics and pneumatics to machines I design. It is more of a tech level intro to both subjects, and a very good one. Just not as practical as I hoped for.

This is an excellent book for understanding Hydraulics and Pneumatics. I used this book a reference manual for the different symbol sets. It is a very easy read and understand. This book is great for anyone taking a class in both areas and/or tech reference manual.
